Karmod, a building company based in Türkiye, announced on Tuesday the development of a polyethylene water storage tank specifically designed for underground use. The company highlighted the increasing demand for underground water storage tanks as a driving force behind this innovative solution.
Selcuk Kaya, Karmod Plastic's Sales Manager, emphasized the durability of the polyethylene tank, which features a ribbed system to withstand underground conditions. "The special ribs ensure that the tank remains unaffected even when heavy vehicles move over it underground," he explained.
Kaya elaborated on the versatile applications of the new tank, noting that it is suitable for rainwater collection and fire water storage in industrial facilities. "In recent years, underground products are being preferred for rainwater harvesting and industrial facility fire water storage. Industrial facilities, in particular, can meet their needs by burying water storage tanks underground, thus not reducing their production space," Kaya said.
He further highlighted the multiple uses of underground liquid storage tanks. "In addition to fire and utility water, these tanks can store chemicals like acids and diesel. They can also be used as septic tanks," Kaya added.
The newly developed polyethylene underground tank has a capacity of five tons, which can be expanded by integrating multiple tanks. Kaya also mentioned that Karmod produces polyester water tanks for underground storage, offering both polyethylene and polyester alternatives.
"Our polyester underground tanks range from 5,000 liters to 100 tons in a single piece. Our large-capacity underground water tanks are widely preferred in hotels, social facilities, and city water network settling stations," he concluded.
