A significant milestone has been achieved by Ayesa, the world's top provider of technology and engineering solutions, as it secures its largest-ever contract in Saudi Arabia, valued at 95 million euros, according to Smart Water Magazine.
The National Water Company (NWC) of the Kingdom, a pivotal entity in the water sector, has engaged the Spanish firm to consult on the design of 190 advanced and sustainable water projects aimed at enhancing both the quantity and quality of this vital resource.
This contract is a crucial component of NWC's commitment to delivering safe and efficient water and sanitation services, with an envisaged investment of approximately 200 billion euros by 2030. This ambitious goal will be pursued through the implementation of comprehensive water cycle infrastructure, encompassing water treatment and sanitation systems to ensure a reliable supply of drinking water to the populace.
Ayesa, as the leading Spanish engineering firm, will oversee the design of major water infrastructure across four regions of the country: south, west, northwest, and north. The comprehensive plan encompasses the construction of numerous water storage tanks to bolster water supply reliability, alongside the establishment of pumping stations, treatment plants, purification facilities, and extensive distribution networks.
The projected capital expenditure for these initiatives totals around 5 billion euros. In addition to designing these water projects, Ayesa will provide environmental services such as Environmental Impact Assessment and Ecological Assessments to NWC during the infrastructure construction bidding phase. Furthermore, Ayesa will leverage cutting-edge technologies in water treatment, sustainable materials, and energy optimization measures.
José Ramón Delgado, Ayesa's Country Manager in Saudi Arabia, emphasized the significance of the contract, stating, "This marks a historic milestone for the company, representing the largest water works design contract for Ayesa to date."
"This contract presents an opportunity for transformational growth," he added, highlighting Ayesa's stature as a "global leader" in the field. "By harnessing the strengths and expertise of our engineering centers across Saudi Arabia, Spain, Ireland, Bahrain, and India, this significant win establishes Ayesa as a premier provider of engineering and technology services in the Middle East," he concluded.
