Zurn Elkay Water Solutions has recently introduced an update to its exposed sensor flush valves, unveiling the Zurn Top Mount Exposed Sensor Flush Valves with Ceramic Gear Technology. This advancement replaces solenoids with ceramic gear technology to enhance reliability, precision, and efficiency, while also ensuring low-maintenance flushing. The newly integrated EZ Gear technology employs a ceramic disc cartridge and motor gear-driven operation, significantly improving functionality, as highlighted in a recent press release.
According to Dan Danowski, the Product Manager of Finish Plumbing at Zurn Elkay, traditional sensor flush valves often rely on temperamental solenoids, requiring frequent maintenance in specific water conditions. Zurn addresses this challenge by offering the only gear-operated ceramic cartridge flush valve in the market, providing enhanced reliability.
These valves are available in both battery-operated and hardwired options with battery backup to ensure continued functionality during power outages. Additionally, a mechanical override button allows for manual flushing when necessary. The units feature a brass body and chrome-plated finish, ensuring durability and a sleek appearance. Installation options are designed to meet ADA compliance standards, according to the news release.
Bob Carter, the Product Manager of Finish Plumbing at Zurn Elkay, emphasizes the incorporation of long-life reliability from ceramic cartridge technology, commonly used in manual faucets, into the sensor flush valve. This integration aims to reduce maintenance costs and sustain operation in various water conditions. Carter notes that the new series offers built-in reliability, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership and increased restroom uptime.
