Amway Selects Crystal IS for Advanced Water Disinfection Technology

May 2024

Amway has opted for Crystal IS to address water treatment and disinfection needs within its newly developed eSpring Water Treatment System. Amway, a health and wellness enterprise spearheaded by entrepreneurs and headquartered in Ada, Michigan, will integrate Crystal IS’s Klaran UVC LEDs for point-of-use disinfection, ensuring the purification of drinking water. As stated in a press release, the utilization of these LEDs guarantees reliable disinfection while preserving the water's temperature, taste, and odor.

Renowned for its diverse portfolio of health and wellness offerings, ranging from supplements and powders to energy drinks, Amway will harness Crystal IS technology to facilitate the disinfection of drinking water through Ultraviolet (UV) light. Notably, the press release underscores the variability of drinking water across different regions and emphasizes that despite existing filtration practices in public water systems, the presence of contaminants remains a possibility. In this context, the Crystal IS technology is positioned to deliver dependable inactivation of persistent viruses and bacteria.

Andrew Schmidt, Managing Director of Amway North America, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in the press release, stating, "For our new eSpring Water Treatment System, that meant offering clean, great-tasting drinking water, made possible with Crystal IS’s leading UVC LED technology. Not only are UVC LEDs effective at reducing microbes in water, but they help increase consumer confidence by remaining true to our dedication to quality and sustainability."

The innovative technology leverages ultraviolet light to eradicate harmful contaminants sans the requirement for chemicals or excessive energy consumption. According to the press release, the adoption of UVC LEDs can result in up to 25% enhanced energy efficiency compared to conventional treatment methodologies.
