In industries where water treatment and fluid handling are critical, mobile pumping solutions are becoming increasingly important. Lutz Pumpen is responding to this need by presenting two innovative pumps at the Pumps & Valves 2025 trade fair in Dortmund from 19 to 20 February 2025 (stand 5-L09 in hall 005): the B70H eccentric screw pump and the B3 Battery drum pump.
The B70 series eccentric screw pumps are used in water treatment and chemical industries to pump a wide range of liquids, including those with varying viscosities and media containing solids. These pumps are ideal for applications involving water treatment chemicals, such as acids and bases, as well as for transferring water-based solutions in the food and beverage industries.
“The B70 series pumps are characterised by a gentle and low-pulsation pumping action, which ensures that the structure and properties of sensitive water-based chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and biochemicals remain unchanged during transport,” explains Takumi Nasu, Head of Development at Lutz-Pumpen GmbH. The pumps utilize an eccentric screw that rotates inside a static housing, dividing the medium across individual chambers and conveying it along these chambers. This gentle process minimizes shear stress and preserves the integrity of the medium being transported.
The B70 pumps offer consistent flow rates with no pressure peaks or dead times, ensuring stable operations, especially in water treatment facilities where continuous flow is essential. “The flow rate is constant and there are no sudden pressure peaks. This is advantageous not only for the stability of the transported medium but also minimises the dead time during which no liquid is pumped,” says Nasu. With a three-phase motor producing up to 900 revolutions per minute, the pumps can achieve a flow rate of up to 120 l/min and a delivery head of up to 6 bar, making them suitable for varying immersion depths, including those in water treatment applications.
Responding to the need for mobility, Lutz Pumpen has launched the B70H for horizontal use on a transport trolley that can be easily moved by a single person, offering flexibility in water treatment facilities with confined spaces or areas with low ceilings.
The B3 Battery Drum Pump: Ideal for Water Treatment Chemicals
Lutz Pumpen is also introducing the B3 Battery drum pump, a mobile and battery-powered solution for transferring water treatment chemicals and other fluids. This new pump is ideal for emptying liquids from drums, canisters, and IBC containers in industries such as water treatment, agriculture, and chemical processing.
“In developing the B3 Battery, we have succeeded for the first time in making the performance of a battery-operated drum pump comparable to that of cable-connected versions,” says Andreas Rössler, Head of Sales at Lutz Pumpen GmbH. The B3 Battery is powered by a brushless 320-watt DC motor, providing a flow rate of up to 180 litres per minute and a delivery head of 11.8 metres of water. With its efficient battery design, the pump can empty a 200-litre drum 14 times on a single charge, which takes just under 15 minutes. At lower speeds, it can pump out an IBC container with 1,000 litres of water up to 5.8 times in just under an hour.
The B3 Battery is particularly suitable for water treatment applications, with versions of the pump tube designed for different chemicals commonly used in the sector. These include a polypropylene (PP) version for sodium hydroxide, and a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) version for chloric acid. These materials ensure compatibility with the harsh chemicals used in water treatment, making the B3 Battery pump a reliable mobile solution for this industry.
